Reshape the Load Profile. Ice Energy’s products can be used to reshape utility load profiles not only by addressing peak summertime load, but also by shifting energy consumption during the Fall, Winter, and Spring months as well. Ice Energy’s intelligent controller allows you to reshape your profile by determining operational periods for the entire year.

Control Peak Demand Growth. Peak demand growth for many utilities is approaching 10% per year while base load growth is approximately 3% per year. Peak demand growth can be controlled with the deployment of Ice Energy’s products in new construction, remodel, and replacement projects.

Improve System Reliability. Growing peak demand combined with underinvestment in the electric transmission and distribution network threaten the reliability of the electric grid as evidenced most recently in California and previously in the eastern states as well. Ice Energy’s ready-to-install products can be deployed in congested areas in a matter of days.

Improve Asset Utilization and Profitability. In many cases, the infrastructure required to service peak demand, of which up to 70% is air conditioning, is used for less than 100 hours per year. Purchasing peak power is growing more expensive and more volatile. Utilities can improve asset utilization and profitability, and mitigate purchasing roik by shifting peak energy consumption to off-peak hours. Additional financial benefits are generated by the creation of a market for energy produced during far off-peak hours.

Lower Emissions: Air quality studies conclude that NOx emissions are reduced by 56% and CO2 emissions by up to 35% when Ice Energy’s Ice Storage Air Conditioners are used to dramatically reduce peak period demand and shift energy consumption to off-peak hours. The California Energy Commission concluded that producing electric power at night versus peak daytime periods, results in site energy and emissions reductions of up to 43%.
