Joseph Gorman, Chairman of the Board

Joseph T. Gorman served as chairman and CEO of TRW Inc. from December 1988 through his retirement in January 2001. He had been TRW’s president and COO since 1985. Mr. Gorman is currently director of Alcoa Inc., the Procter and Gamble Company, National City Corporation, and Imperial Chemical Industries PLC. He was a trustee of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Foundation and the Committee for Economic Development, served on the Board of Directors of United Way Services and served as co-chairman of the Business Roundtable. He is also a member of the President’s Export Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, the President’s Advisory Group of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable’s Policy and Planning committees, and the National Bureau of Economic Research.

A renowned business leader, Mr. Gorman serves on the boards of the U.S.-China Business Council and The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum, and is a trustee of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He also served on the Council for Competitiveness as a co-industry vice chair and member of the executive committee. A past member of the U.S-Japan Business Council, Mr. Gorman received Japan’s 1994 Prime Minister’s Trade Award for his contributions to promoting improved U.S.-Japanese trade relations.

Mr. Gorman has a B.A. from Kent State University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. His numerous civic involvements include trustee of both the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Cleveland Playhouse, and member of the Business-Higher Education Forum, the Kent State University Foundation and the Yale Alumni Association.

John Breckenridge, Board Member

John Breckenridge serves as Managing Director for Good Energies. He joined the firm in 2007 from CCMP Capital Advisors, formerly known as J.P. Morgan Partners, where he served as Operating Partner and Managing Director in both Tokyo and New York. During his seven years at the firm, Mr. Breckenridge was responsible for leading many of the firm’s portfolio companies, as well as advising on all aspects of the purchase and sales of investments in the U.S., Asia and Europe. While at CCMP Capital Advisors, Mr. Breckenridge led the development of companies in the renewable energy, traditional energy, industrial service, manufacturing and chemicals sectors, among others. He also provided guidance to companies expanding into China or other Asian countries.

Prior to joining JP Morgan Partners in Tokyo, Mr. Breckenridge was Chief Operating Officer of Densei Lambda KK, a publicly traded Japanese corporation. Before that he was the manager of several large divisions of Invensys plc and Exide Electronics in the US. Earlier in his career he held engineering, sales and general management positions at AT&T, International Power Machines, Inc., and Strafor Facom SA.

Mr. Breckenridge holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont followed by graduate business study at Rutgers University.

Tom Cain, Board Member

Tom Cain is a partner with Odyssey Venture Partners, a leader in energy and cleantech investments. He is known to executives with whom he works as energizing, pragmatic, knowledgeable and demanding—a unique combination of being supportive while challenging. Mr. Cain is also a veteran CEO. Prior to joining Odyssey, Tom founded a highly successful international enterprise software firm which he sold in 1999, staying on as Chairman of the Board through 2004. He was also a prolific and innovative business software developer, receiving best product awards in supply chain and e-commerce in the 80s and 90s. He has founded technology firms in Canada, Ireland and the UK and has conducted extensive business development efforts, building regional offices in China, Japan, Australia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Mr. Cain was uniquely honored to serve as the first non-Turkish director of Turkey’s largest computer firm and served as a Partner of Israel's leading merchant bank. Tom has also served as a visible international member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and serves as chairman of its annual MIT Presidents Education, chairman of its annual Global Supply Chain conference, and group leader of its annual Harvard Business School Presidents Education.

Mr. Cain holds an undergraduate degree and graduate studies in abstract mathematics from Arizona State University. Through YPO, he has extensive post graduate education at Harvard and MIT.

Vic Fazio, Board Member

Former U.S. Congressman Vic Fazio (D-CA) is a senior advisor with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, DC where he advises clients on a range of public policy and government relations issues. During his two decades in Congress, Mr. Fazio was recognized as one of Capitol Hill’s most thoughtful, effective and influential legislators, and earned the admiration of Republicans and Democrats alike.

Mr. Fazio served for 20 years as a member of Congress, representing California’s 3rd District. During his tenure of distinguished public service, he was appointed to the House Appropriations Committee, serving as a subcommittee chairman or ranking member for 18 years. In addition, he was a member of the Armed Services, Budget, Ethics and House Administration Committees.

In addition to his role on the Appropriations Committee, Mr. Fazio was active in the Democratic leadership of the House, holding several appointive and elected positions. He served as the vice chair of the Democratic Caucus from 1989 until 1994, when he was elected chairman, the third-ranking position in the House. He was the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the political arm of the House Democrats, for four years in the early 1990s. He also was a majority whip-at-large and served as a regional representative on the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.

Before his election to Congress, Mr. Fazio served in the California State Assembly. Prior to first being elected to public office, he was a senior assistant to the speaker of the California Assembly. After his retirement from Congress in 1998, Mr. Fazio served as the co-managing partner of strategic communications with the consulting firm Clark & Weinstock in Washington, DC. Mr. Fazio currently serves on select boards including Northrop Grumman and the American Stock Exchange.

Michael Feldman, Board Member

As Vice President of Goldman Sachs, Michael Feldman heads the Alternative Energy Investing business within Goldman Sachs' Special Situations Group, a business focused on investing the firm's capital in alternative/renewable energy in the form of private equity, corporate lending, project finance and structured investments. Mr. Feldman’s primary focus has been on biofuels, geothermal energy, and gasification based fuels and energy. He serves as the Goldman Sachs representative on portfolio companies' Boards of Directors.

Mr. Feldman joined Goldman Sachs & Co. in 1997.Prior to his current role, Michael held various other positions in the Special Situations Group including in the Structured Investing and the Leasing Groups. He earned an B.A. from Columbia University in Computer Science with a concentration in Mathematics.

Steve Herman, Board Member

Steve. Herman is a Managing Director at Energy Capital Partners. Prior to joining Energy Capital, Mr. Herman was Senior Energy Counsel for Goldman Sachs' power asset investment management activities. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of PG&E National Energy Group and its predecessor, U.S. Generating Company.

Mr. Herman has been a Partner at Latham & Watkins and Kirkland & Ellis, and has served as President of the Energy Bar Association and Vice-Chair, Energy Industry Restructuring Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions Committee, American Bar Association, authored FERC Practice and Procedure Manual and BNA Natural Gas Handbook, and taught at the University of Chicago Law School.

Mr. Herman holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania, and an LLB from the University of Virginia Law School.

Frank (Pete) Higgins, Board Member

Mr. Higgins is a founding partner of Second Avenue Partners, one of Seattle’s most experienced teams providing management, strategy and capital to early-stage companies.

Prior to founding Second Avenue Partners, Mr. Higgins spent 16 years at Microsoft Corporation. Mr. Higgins was a member of the Office of the President, reporting to CEO Bill Gates. He was group vice president of the Interactive Media Group at Microsoft from 1996 to 1998. As head of the Interactive Media Group, he was responsible for Microsoft’s online and consumer software businesses, including MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, Carpoint, Slate, Internet Gaming Zone, Encarta, multimedia games, desktop finance product, and hardware products such as the Microsoft Mouse.

Mr. Higgins joined Microsoft in 1983. From 1995 to 1996, he was group vice president of Applications and Content, responsible for Microsoft Office consumer and online applications, desktop finance, hardware and Microsoft Research. From 1992 to 1995, he was senior vice president of the Desktop Applications division, where he was responsible for developing, marketing and localizing Microsoft Office. From 1988 to 1992, he was general manager and then vice president of the Analysis Business Unit, leading the rise of Microsoft Excel to the leadership position in the personal computer spreadsheet market.

Mr. Higgins serves on the board of directors of Bocada Inc., Insitu Group, and Advanced Digital Information Corporation. He is an executive advisor for the private equity firm Hellman Friedman, Housevalues, and is a strategic director of the venture capital group, Madrona Investments, LLC. Mr. Higgins also serves on the Board of Trustees for Stanford University and Long Live the Kings. He is a past board member of the Washington Software Association and the Software Publishers Association.

Mr. Higgins holds an MBA and an undergraduate degree in economics and history from Stanford University.

Peter Labbat, Board Member

Peter Labbat is a Partner at Energy Capital Partners. He is responsible for transaction structuring and execution. Prior to this, Mr. Labbat spent 13 years in the Goldman Sachs investment banking division from 1993 until his retirement from the firm in August 2006. He began his career within the Goldman Sachs mergers and acquisitions department, advising on and executing numerous strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures across a variety of industries.

Since 2001, as a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Labbat had senior-level coverage responsibility for electric and gas utilities and independent power companies throughout the United States. He was also responsible for the mergers and acquisitions in the natural resource sector. During his career, Mr. Labbat has been involved in over 50 merger-related and financing transactions. Within the utility and power sector, he has provided strategic advice to numerous companies active in mergers and financing.

Mr. Labbat received a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University in 1987 and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School in 1993.
