Leading energy storage company also makes elite industry lists Global Cleantech 100 and Always On Going Green 100
WINDSOR CO. – October 19, 2010 – Ice Energy, a leading provider of smart grid-enabled distributed energy storage solutions to the electric utility industry, was honored today as the “Breakout Company of the Year” by the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA) during the organization’s inaugural Colorado Cleantech Awards Celebration, honoring leadership in advancing cleantech.
The event, showcasing those companies and individuals who have made a significant impact on Colorado’s cleantech industry during the past year, was held at the Denver Marriot City Center.
The award is the latest honor for the fast-growing energy storage company, which earlier this month was named to both the prestigious Global Cleantech 100 and the AlwaysOn GoingGreen 100 lists.
As selected by the Guardian and Cleantech Group, the Global Cleantech100 highlights the most promising private clean technology companies around the world, recognizing companies at the forefront of cleantech innovation, and those that, in the opinion of the selection panel, are “most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next 5-10 years.” This is the second year in the row Ice Energy was selected for inclusion on the list.
The GoingGreen Silicon Valley Top 100 Private Companies list is a compilation of top 100 greentech companies as selected by the AlwaysOn. In assembling the list, the judges evaluated hundreds of companies, assessing the breakthrough potential of their technologies, market size, management team, and investors, to select those believed to hold the greatest potential for success.
Last month, Ice Energy was also named a finalist for the prestigious 2010 Platts Global Energy Award, an annual competition honoring top achievers in the utility industry. The company was nominated in the category of “Sustainable Technology Innovation of the Year,” which honors innovative technology advances in the saving, making or cleaning up of energy. The judges, noting that “the world will achieve carbon neutrality only through groundbreaking technological breakthrough on both the supply side and the demand side,” evaluated nominees on the research, development and commercialization potential of their technologies.
Now in its 12th year, the international Platts Global Energy Awards are considered by the energy industry to represent the pinnacle of excellence. Finalists are selected by an elite panel of judges representing world governments, regulatory agencies, corporations and academia that base evaluations on key criteria such as innovation, strategic vision, commercial viability and leadership.
Winners of the 2010 Platts Global Energy Award will be announced Dec. 2, 2010 at a gala awards ceremony in New York City. A division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Platts is a leading global provider of energy and metals information.
