SAIC to Offer Ice Bear Energy Storage Solution to Federal Agencies and Military Branches

WINDSOR, CO – June 8, 2010 – Ice Energy, a leading provider of advanced energy storage solutions to the electric utility industry, today announced an agreement with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) that will extend the company’s Ice Bear distributed energy storage offering to U.S. Federal Government agencies and the military.

Leveraging SAIC’s market reach and expertise, the agreement with SAIC will enable Ice Energy to expand its sales and business development efforts for distributed thermal energy storage projects directly to more than 40 federal agencies and all branches of the U.S. military.

By leveraging the higher efficiencies associated with generating and transmitting cleaner, more efficient and more abundant power off-peak, storing it at hundreds of distributed locations, and dispatching it during times of peak demand, Ice Energy represents a potential new energy solution equivalent to hundreds of megawatts of clean peaking power at U.S. government installations.

Benefits of the Ice Bear system include reduced daytime energy consumption, lower energy costs and a smaller environmental footprint on Federal buildings and military bases, without sacrificing the comfort or performance of employees and service personnel.

"Ice Energy has a proven, scalable solution that is ready for large-scale system deployment today, providing a powerful, cost-effective alternative to help the Federal government address the growing demand for clean, renewable energy and meet the mandate of Executive Order 13514 to reduce GHG emissions by 28 percent over the next decade,” said Michael D. Genseal, Vice President of Project Development for SAIC.

“This agreement between SAIC and Ice Energy will enable Ice Energy to swiftly and efficiently ramp its ability to develop and deliver 100’s of megawatts of energy storage projects to the Federal markets, at a time when it is critically important to this country,” said John McGee, COO of Ice Energy. “Working together to bring this innovative solution to market, we can help our utility customers, and SAIC’s Federal customers, contribute to the development of a cleaner, more efficient, and more reliable power grid.”
