Peter Labbat

Peter Labbat is a Partner at Energy Capital Partners.

He is responsible for transaction structuring and execution. Prior to this engagement, Mr. Labbat spent 13 years in the Goldman Sachs investment banking division from 1993 until his retirement from the firm in August 2006. He began his career within the Goldman Sachs mergers and acquisitions department, advising on and executing numerous strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures across a variety of industries.

Since 2001, as a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Labbat had senior-level coverage responsibility for electric and gas utilities and independent power companies throughout the United States. He was also responsible for the mergers and acquisitions in the natural-resource sector.

During his career, Mr. Labbat has been involved in more than 50 merger-related and financing transactions. Within the utility and power sector, he has provided strategic advice to numerous companies active in mergers and financing.

Mr. Labbat received a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University in 1987 and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School in 1993.
