Introducing Project Cool Move

A turn-key distributed energy storage program to help utilities meet their business objectives, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.

Developed by Ice Energy to enable the wide-scale deployment of its Ice Bear distributed energy storage system by utilities, Project Cool Move is a turn-key program that makes the installation of distributed energy storage on commercial and industrial buildings fast, simple and straightforward – from start to finish.

The program takes an integrated, systematic approach to utility-scale distributed energy storage deployment – enabling utilities to deploy Ice Bear storage technology as rapidly as possible, complete with a pre-packaged set of awareness tools.

With Project Cool Move, Ice Energy seamlessly handles everything – from customer recruitment and site acquisition, through engineering and permitting, to installation and performance assurance. This includes program marketing, site survey/qualification, customer acquisition, installation, maintenance, support, and customer recognition.

The Big Picture:

Why Project Cool Move works.

Ice Energy’s distributed energy storage projects provide utilities with offset capacity (MWs) and offset energy (MWHs) on a multi-megawatt scale for a contract term typically 20-25 years in length.

Utilities in turn fund the purchase and installation of individual Ice Bear energy storage units directly on commercial and industrial customer sites within their service territory. The utility maintains ownership and operation of the asset, just as it does with meters, transformers, or other pieces of utility equipment. Their customers benefit from the economic, environmental and performance advantages of adding storage to their facilities – at no cost to them.

These distributed resources, when aggregated and managed in real time as a single resource, deliver cost-effective, grid-scale storage and performance to utilities. A fleet of aggregated and centrally controlled Ice Bear energy storage units can help offset the need for additional peak generation, relieve transmission congestion, and firm up renewable sources of energy.

And businesses and buildings with installed Ice Bear units benefit from lower daytime energy consumption, increased efficiency and lower costs, reduced maintenance, a smaller environmental footprint, and improved comfort for building occupants.

Step by Step:

Ice Energy handles it all.

Once a utility is ready to move forward on a multi-megawatt distributed energy storage project, Project Cool Move comes into play, seamlessly handling everything from customer recruitment – to site acquisition – to engineering and permitting – to installation and performance assurance, all with a specific  plan tailored to each participating utility and its unique customer base.

Similar to Energy Star®, Project Cool Move also includes a fully branded, turnkey marketing program to educate, build awareness and encourage customer participation. This includes an integrated mix of marketing and communication components to promote the program and its benefits, all of which can be co-branded and customized to align with the existing utility programs and brand.

Project Cool Move can also help participating utilities get much-deserved credit for the benefits of the project to the community, as well as increase visibility to such critical constituencies as regulators and policymakers.

Bottom line:

Project Cool Move enables utilities to leverage a branded investment to accelerate program adoption and realize the benefits of grid-scale energy storage as soon as possible.

It’s that simple.
