WCSH6: Ice Energy part of Grid Solar alternative power project in Maine

Portland, Maine’s NBC affiliate, WCSH6 News, spotlighted Ice Energy’s technology in a segment on Grid Solar’s alternative power system that’s helping the Boothbay region avoid building new electric lines. Grid Solar arranged for some businesses, and at least one town office, to buy devices called “Ice Bears,” which use cheaper, off-peak electricity at night to freeze giant ice blocks. Fans then blow air over the ice during the day to reduce the need for power-hungry air conditioners.
